The Directorate of Undergraduate studies (DUS) is Responsible for all issues related to Undergraduate Studies in the University.
The establishment of the DUS is a measure taken to to free the DVC-AC from the day-to-day operational issues so that the DVC may concentrate on administration, policy, strategic and cross-cutting issues, in the process of increasing efficiency because Most activities that fall under the Directorate was directly managed by the DVC-AC.
At its establishment SUA had a student population of about 400. The student population has grown to about 7,365 undergraduate students in 2015.Undergraduate programs have also increased in number from three in 1984 to over 34 in 2015.
The management structure that was in place in 1984 to serve a student population of 400 (this number included undergraduate and postgraduate) and 3 programs has continued to operate until now even though signs of stress have been visible. Throughout, staff have had to absorb an ever increasing pressure in adaptation to the expansion effect.
